Join us for SHOWAbility's new monthly masterclass series, INCLUSIVE ARTS. This month we learn Improv acting led by actor, Martha Anger (ASL)

About this EventSHOWAbility (formerly ABEL2 Inc.) is offering monthly Inclusive Masterclasses all 2021! Each class will uniquely provide educational and entertaining courses led by led by leaders, advocates, and professionals within the disability arts community.

This course is IMPROV ACTING for Deaf, hard of hearing, and All.

Description: Improv has always been an exciting practice for actors to advance their skills, self-confidence, and their ability to think on their feet. With SHOWAbility celebrating the 30th anniversary of the signing of ADA, we decided to not only make this opportunity available to everyone virtually but also with a focus on those who are deaf and hard of hearing (an ASL interpreter will be available as well for others who want to attend).

In this class, attendees will learn the basic tools, rules, and philosophy of improv through games, drills, and virtual scenes… All through the computer scene! Be sure to sign up! We’d love to see you.

Black, a mother of two young men, an ordained minister, a published writer, an avid reader, and an amateur photographer was recently nominated for the National Black Radio Hall of Fame, has been a staple in the metro-Atlanta communications industry for more than 25 years, as the Public Affairs Director for KISS 104.1FM, where she served as the liaison between the station and the community. Black is also the host in “Inspiration Across America,” syndicated in 29 markets.

She is a highly sought-after host of ceremonies, parties, shows, church events, awards dinners, and other benevolent causes, due to her philanthropic inclination and her readily recognized silky, sultry voice. Among her many accolades is being honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from President Barack Obama, being named one of Atlanta’s Top 100 Women of Influence by the Atlanta Business League.

Twanda Black is the board chair of SHOWAbility™, formerly known as ABEL 2, a 501c3, which is sponsoring educational programming in support of inclusive arts. The nonprofit organization's mission as an agent of change is to leverage arts and entertainment as the vehicle that brings visibility and awareness to the abilities of the disability community.

The inclusive chorus, made up of talented singers with and without disabilities, performs multi-genre songs selected to uplift the hearts of the listeners. There is no other chorus of this type in Georgia, nor in the Southeast.

The aim is to bring joy to all people in hopes of mainstreaming the disability community and showcasing the talents of all abilities.
